Blindness is estimated to affect 737,000 Egyptians with an additional 2.2 million suffering from visual impairment.
Each year up to 70.000 Egyptians become blind due to cataract. More than tow thirds of this blindness is treatable or preventable. Without proper interventions the number of blinds in Egypt will increase to over one million by 2020.
