Al Noor has established within the facility of Magrabi Charitable Eye Hospital a resource center dedicated for training and continuous medical education. The aim of the center is to provide an up to date media for surgical and technical training to empower the eye care providers' capacity particularly eye surgeons, medical ophthalmologists, technicians and nurses.

The center includes; a wet lab for demo in surgery, a skill transfer lab with life surgery and contact with the operating theatre, a conference hall with telemedicine communication, a library with audiovisual media in addition to Ibsar center with computer training facility for the blind users.
The center conducts the training programs in accordance with a definite schedule and offers its facilities for all eye care providers who are based not only in Egypt but also in Arab, African and Asian countries.
Al Noor started a collaboration with the main Governmental Eye Hospitals in Egypt to improve their surgical capacity through a bi-limbic approach based on providing training workshops and donating essentially needed equipment.

A variety of training programs has been instructed by the staff of Al Noor Foundation and targeted eye-care providers particularly in rural Egypt .
A surgical training on better surgical techniques for correction of trachoma complications in the eye-lid was provided for nearly all eye doctors working in the MOH in Menofiya during 1999. A system for monitoring the outcome of the surgery has started to evaluate the trainee's performance and outcome for the program.
Research methodology workshop for Eye Doctors was conducted in Giza Governmental Eye Hospital in 1999 aiming at enabling ophthalmologists to design and conduct proper clinical studies.
Glaucoma management workshop was conducted in September 2000 also in Giza Governmental Eye Hospital where a number of 25 doctors were engaged in 2 weeks full course for better management of glaucoma cases.
As training issue is closely related to the available equipment, Al Noor has been interested in upgrading the set up for surgery in the governmental hospitals. Based on needs assessment a variety of equipment had been donated that included, modern surgical microscope, A-scan for biometry, keratometer, sets for cataract surgery, a modern computer for different governmental eye hospitals in Menofiya and Giza.
Besides, donations for establishing an eye bank in the National Center for Ophthalmology in Cairo . |
